I figured that because there are so many signs and warnings throughout the underground, the black stripes here mean "these signs are actually important, don't ignore this", and then I thought a big metal barrier with stripes should have been good enough. I mean, do people really need further explanation so as to be convinced that you shouldn't jump over a barrier and run up a dead escalator?
