Nice to see people walking on the proper side, but it's not followed all the time. At first, I was still in the habit of walking on the right side, and my guess was that a lot of other foreigners were too. This tended to create lots of congested stairways, especially at station entrances.
Compositionally, the eyeflow in this photograph is a bit different in that you follow the two people walking down into the image, then pop back out with the guy climbing up.
