Oh one of my favourite bicycle seat shots. The exposed skeletal springs and worn surfaces make this feel like some sort of industrial futuristic, yet retro, art sculpture.
This is actually as close to a subject as I can shoot with my camera which is a rangefinder (Leica M7, 35mm f2 lens). If I used a camera and lens that allowed me to get closer, I probably never would have made this composition because the tendency is to zoom in and cut out the clutter. But because I couldn't, I think I ended up with a much more interesting composition that gives the subject a context. Because I can't get in close, I use a shallow depth of field to isolate the subject, but I can never be quite sure how it's going to look because you don't see what the lens sees on a rangefinder.
