This baby appears to be sleeping. The difficult part about shooting a photo like this is there's almost zero time to compose it because they are moving so fast and they are so close to me (remember these are all 35mm wide angle) there's literally a fraction of a second. When I see the bikers coming, I start to follow them with the camera by "panning", and then when they reach the position that I prefocused on, I shoot while trying to keep the subject where I want within the frame. So in a sense, the shooting process is backwards, I have to previsualize the composition, adjust all the settings for this imaginary picture, and then wait for the right subject to appear and fire away.
